Derrick Bell

Derrick Albert Bell, Jr. (November 6, 1930 – October 5, 2011) was the first tenured African-American Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and is largely credited as one of the originators of critical race theory (CRT). He was a visiting professor at New York University School of Law from 1991 until his death. He was also a dean of the University of Oregon School of Law . Born in the Hill District of Pittsburgh , Bell received an A.B. from Duquesne University in 1952. He was a member of the Duquesne Reserve Officers' Training Corps and later served as an Air Force officer for two years (stationed in Korea for one of those years). Marcus Garvey

2013 Marcus Garvey Illustration in Context (on the cover of Time Magazine) Marcus Garvey was a proponent of the Black Nationalism and Pan-Africanism movements, inspiring the Nation of Islam and the Rastafarian movement. Born in Jamaica, Marcus Garvey was an orator for the Black Nationalism and Pan-Africanism movements, to which end he founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League. Garvey advanced a Pan-African philosophy which inspired a global mass movement, known as Garveyism. Garveyism would eventually inspire others, from the Nation of Islam to the Rastafari movement. Portrait Drawing

A Collection of portrait drawings of the Sunshine Adult Daycare Residents Several portrait drawings and artistic representation of residents of the Sunshine Adult Daycare, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, we use photography to get a snapshot image of the individual person in a still position. We made an attempt to shows a person looking directly at the artist, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer. These portrait drawings are done from an iPhone photo and drawn on watercolor paper. They are sketches to be painted at a later date.
